Juniors have been using their flashcards to make these words. They then blended the sounds together to read the word. The more practise they do, the more confident they will become.
We are currently learning the sounds from group 2. Don't forget to revise group 1 regularly.
If a child memorises ten words, the child can only read ten words, but of the child learns the sounds of ten letters, the child will be able to read 350 three sound words, 4,320 four sound words and 21,650 sound words.
Guess Who’s Back!?
Dear Parent/ Guardian,
Last year, ‘Bosco the Elf’ joined Room 4 for the month of November and December and went home with a different child each night. Bosco had so much fun last year, Santa has decided to send Bosco’s brother, Deco, this year. I have been in contact with the North Pole and Deco is expected to arrive tomorrow. Deco will be watching the boys and girls in school every day and will be reporting back to Santa. Deco will also watch the boys and girls when he visits their home. I really hope the boys and girls will be on their best behaviour.
Mommy Elf, Daddy Elf and Bosco will really miss Deco, so, like last year, Deco will take home a camera every evening with him so his new friend can take photos of Deco having lots of fun. We will make a scrapbook of Deco’s adventure for you to read during the home visit. We will also send some of the photographs via email over to the North Pole.
A draw will take place each evening to determine who Deco goes on the sleepover with. Deco will only go home with children who have been following the class rules really carefully!
Apologies for starting so early but if all children are to get a turn, I have to start on November 13th! Some children will be extra lucky as they will have Deco for the whole weekend!
• Take one photograph of Deco with your child.
• Take three/ four photographs of Deco doing different activities- going shopping in Super Valu/ going to an after- school activity with your child/ eating dinner/ having a drink before bedtime/ reading a story/ watching television/ playing with toys/ in the car etc. ....Be creative and have fun!! :)
Thank you to all those who have already selected a time for our meeting. If you are having any difficulties using the sign-up system, please call in to me any evening at 2pm this week and I will help you.
Welcome to the Room 4 Junior / Senior Infant Blog. We will show you some of our work on this page and hopefully you will see just how busy we are in school. We would love for you to leave comments for us to read!
